Geographical Information of Magway Region

Location and Area

Magway Region is located in central part of Myanmar. The region is situated between 18°52’N and 22°44’N, and between 93°52’E and 95°51’E. Total area of the region is 17318.223 square miles.

Border

Magway Region is border with Mandalay Region and Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory in the east, Bago Region in the south, Chin and Rakhine State in the west and Sagaing Region in the North.

Topography

Magway Region is a lowland plain region and Bago mountain range exists in east, Chin hill and Rakhine mountain range exist in the west and Pone Taung Pone Nyar range exists in the north.

The altitude above sea level of Magway Region is over 170.6 feet. The highest township is Chauk and the lowest township is Pauk.
